It’s a new road for former champions New York Yankees. After a poor last season, they are ready again for the challenge of winning their first World Series title since 2009. However, given the club’s struggles in recent times, it won’t be an easy task. The Yankees would need their best version, especially on the offense, to be successful.
The Bronx Bombers were tested to their limits in 2023 due to injuries and inconsistencies in play. As a result, a plan B was the need of the hour. Knowing this, they have worked around the squad to make this approach successful while retaining many old faces while also adding new faces. But is it enough for an alternative setup?
A Look at New York Yankees’ Alternative Setup: Perfect or Not?
The New York Yankees have been very active this off-season. Mostly blamed for not timing their actions, they have made all the right moves to be ever present in the free agency market. Their signings of Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo reflected it, while answering the question: Who will hit if not Aaron Judge? But a question remains: How can the Yankees accommodate all for a perfect lineup?
With the different priorities of each player, the former champions have a task at their hands. However, that should not be a problem with this possible lineup. The Pinstripes can send DJ LeMahieu first due to his OB capability. Then Aaron Judge can be next, due to his comfort of playing at second, followed by Juan Soto at third.
The rest can be Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Alex Verdugo, Anthony Volpe, Jose Trevino, or Austin Wells. This makes it a solid ‘9’, giving the Yankees a perfect offense to back on for long. But are there areas of concern?
It’s the Perfect Nine if The Yanks Can Remove the Inconsistencies During the Run
All has been good until now for the Bronx Bombers. With new sluggers on the roster, their offense looks strong, but only if everyone can play at full capacity. Apart from Judge, Torres, and the newly added Soto, all others on the lineup had a poor season. Especially Rizzo and Stanton.

Both star hitters failed to do enough at the plate, finishing with an average of 0.241 and 0.191. This has been the case with the other players, including rookie Volpe, who averaged 0.209. Although the squad has bettered with the arrival of Soto, the Yanks would not see the problems ending if these players do not step up their game. Only time will tell how 2024 shapes up.
