While the chances of a rematch with Dmitry Bivol still remain high, even if he wants, in all probability, Canelo Alvarez may not get the opportunity to undo the setback of 2013, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. inflicted his first career loss. So how to get back against the all-time great? A showdown and beatdown against the man whom the undefeated former champion stopped.
The latest reports reveal Canelo Alvarez might be favorably disposed to a faceoff against Conor McGregor. Both Mayweather Jr. . and McGregor clashed seven years ago. Perhaps Alvarez believes that instead of the ten rounds that Mayweather Jr. took to stop the MMA legend, he could wrap the whole business within the early rounds just to support his argument to prove boxing’s superiority. The super middleweight champion is all set to meet Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena. He joins the fight after his last undisputed title defense against Jaime Munguia.
Citing Manouk Akopyan, talksSPORT’s Michael Benson shared a tweet. It mentioned that Canelo Alvarez seemed quite tuned in with the idea of a match against Conor McGregor. “Yeah, why not? Then we’ll show boxing is better. Easy, easy. Very easy money… [I knock him out] at the time I want. One round, two rounds, three rounds—whatever I want,” he reportedly said.
