Taylor Fritz Cheekily Admits to Ignoring Girlfriend Morgan Riddle’s Fashion Advice in Favor of His Own Look

For two decades, American tennis fans have yearned for a return to glory. Legends like John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, and Andre Roddick set a high bar, creating an expectation of Grand Slam titles and dominant personalities. Now, after a long wait, that hope may have finally arrived in the form of 27-year-old Californian, Taylor Fritz. He enters the 2025 season with a remarkable resume: a Masters 1000 title, a Grand Slam final appearance, a Tour Finals final, eight singles titles, an Olympic medal, a world ranking of No. 4, and a BOSS ambassadorship. But despite his success, a curious disconnect exists – while he excels on the court, Fritz seems to disregard the fashion advice of his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle.

Taylor Fritz possesses the classic good looks of a model: tall and lean at 6’5″, with striking dark brown hair usually styled in a center part that accentuates his eyes. On the other hand, Riddle has a diverse sense of style and mainly draws inspiration from elegant attires of royal icons at tennis tournaments, especially Kate Middleton and Princess Diana. Riddle attempts to dress her boyfriend in the ‘Classy Old Money’ aesthetic as well, but Fritz is not a fan.

In a January 27th conversation with Racquet Magazine, Fritz said that when Riddle insists on a polished look, “sometimes I ignore her advice.”

Coming from Southern California, “I do gravitate to a more casual LA/San Diego style streetwear,” he says, “but I also like to dress up in a bit more classy style as well, which BOSS is an option for. I change it up for where I’m at and the mood.”

In March 2024, Fritz became a global ambassador for Hugo Boss, after years of wearing Nike on court. The luxury brand dresses the tennis star on and off the court for red-carpet looks and interviews. The pair, who first began dating in June 2020, did a shoot for Hugo Boss together wearing luxury all-black outfits in late December last year. Adding on, he opened for the luxury brand in Milan Fashion Week in September 2024. He also walked for Hermes Men’s 2023 Winter collection.

The American further said, “I’ve always been very into fashion, to kind of have this off-court image and persona that people can see me, and connect to me when I’m not playing tennis. Fashion, modeling, stuff like that is a great way to show people me.”

While he may have ignored Riddle’s fashion tip, he doesn’t deny her impact on his career.

The Riddle Effect: Riddle’s Influence on Fritz, Both On and Off the Court

Riddle did not have much knowledge of tennis initially, however, now she is known as “the most famous woman in men’s tennis” by The New York Times. Their profile has exploded since their appearance on the Netflix docuseries “Break Point,” which offers viewers an inside look at the triumphs and tribulations of professional tennis.

Last year, Fritz acknowledged Riddle’s impact, “I think it’s great to just kind of have someone who is with you, supporting you, helping keep you focused.” Riddle doesn’t just give Fritz emotional support but also helps him stay mentally sharp during his games through his hectic schedule. “She gets it, and she also understands what it takes each week and throughout the year to help me play my best tennis and feel my best. I think that’s a big thing – I just kind of have someone helping me at all times.”

While Fritz may insist on making his own outfit choices, he turns to Riddle when he needs someone to help him stay sharp and encouraged.
