‘Way More Players’ Than Sergio Garcia Deserve Major Exemptions, LIV Golf Pro Makes Frustrated Confession

Since its launch, LIV Golf has stirred up plenty of drama in the professional golf world. And especially with the players who switched from the PGA Tour. All these players received bans from all the PGA Tour events, and the league still doesn’t offer Official World Golf Ranking points. This makes it tough for players to qualify for certain tournaments, leaving them with limited options. However, LIV players can still tee off in the Majors thanks to their past performances and impressive wins.

The real challenge? Continuing to earn their spot in these prestigious events, since winning or finishing strong is the only sure-fire way to secure a ticket to future showdowns. Unless they qualify through the US Open or Open Championship qualifiers. Moreover, the invites to LIV Golfers like Jon Rahm, and Cameron Smith have already started circulating for the 2025 season.

Joaquin Niemann, who received his first PGA Championship invite last year, once again received a special invitation to this year’s tournament. However, he still believes the system is wrong, at least for the players of the Breakaway League.

Joaquin Niemann recently appeared in the Rick Shiels Golf Show. Despite giving a stunning performance last season, he still ranks 68th in the World Ranking. This is because LIV Golf does not award OWGR points.

Discussing this, he said, “It’s not right not having points or not having direct invites into the majors. I think it’s something that is eventually going to happen because of the good golf that we play here, of course, but yeah, I mean it’s just going to come.”

LIV Golf star Sergio Garcia has also received an invitation to compete in the 2025 PGA Championship. And according to Niemann, there are a lot more players who deserve to be there.

“You saw Sergio get invited to the PGA Championship as well for this year, and it’s moving in the right direction. But I do feel like there are way more players that they need to be in, like Carlos and Sebastian. They were all into the majors the year they left the PGA Tour. And now they’ve been playing better Golf and they’re not in any of those majors and they’re trying to find their way to get into those,” he added.

Niemann also stated he believes they will soon get the recognition they deserve. Please note while playing for LIV Golf. Joaquin Niemann has somehow managed to crack a Major code. At least for himself. Because he will not only play at the PGA Championship, but at the Masters too.

Joaquin Niemann receives invite for 2025 Masters after LIV Golf’s controversies

Last year, Augusta National extended a special invite to Joaquin Niemann, allowing him to participate in the Masters. The post shared with the photos of Joaquin Niemann and Nicolai Højgaard had the caption that read, “Denmark’s Nicolai Højgaard and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann have accepted invitations to compete in the 2025 Masters Tournament.”

This is the second time Chile’s professional player received an invitation, despite being part of the PIF league. With this invitation, Niemann will make his sixth appearance at the Masters this April. He’s been on a solid run lately, having made the cut in each of the past four tournaments and securing top-25 finishes in the last two years.

Currently ranked No. 68 in the OWGR, he also impressed with a T-9 finish in last year’s Olympics, representing Chile. Will he be able to make the invitation count this season? Stay tuned to find out!
